Hobart Hot Spots: Salamanca
Salamanca Place (Hobart) is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike. Formerly, a set of warehouses built in around the 1840’s, these sandstone buildings and the surrounding areas have been transformed into one of Hobart’s main cultural and artistic hubs. Galleries, theatres, antique & craft shops, café’s and studios have filled these spaces of Salamanca place over the last 100 years.
Every Saturday thousands of locals and tourists come to the famous Salamanca market, which fill up the adjoining car park. The market is a truly unique festivity that has everything you need including live bands and performances. The thousands of visitors that flock to the market are a testament to its success and popularity.
At night Salamanca really comes to life. Along the rows of old sandstone buildings are countless restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs, providing one of Hobart’s best nightlife spots.
